As a major actor in the promotion and defence of the rights and interests of the elderly in France and throughout the world, FIAPA [1] (International Federation of Associations of the Elderly), takes the opportunity of the International Day of Older Persons to thank all the partners who have supported its action and in particular during the national campaign Ca suffit, brisons le silence! organised against the mistreatment of the elderly and in particular financial mistreatment. FIAPA thanks the director Christophe Ramage as well as all the actors and personalities of the show [2]who participated voluntarily in the recording of the spots and all the channels[3] who broadcast them, also free of charge.
FIAPA recalls that the health crisis has exacerbated the risks of abuse of vulnerable people, including the elderly, whether at home or in institutions. These are complex phenomena that have not yet come to light and which require great vigilance and a reinforced policy for the protection of people.
FIAPA welcomes the theme of the International Day of Older Persons 2021 Digital Equity for all ages and the strong mobilisation of its members worldwide around the risks of exclusion linked to the generalisation of practices linked to digital technology. To continue its fight, especially on these risks, FIAPA recalls the theme of its next INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS which will take place in Nice on October 5 and 6, 2022: INNOVATION TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF SENIORS: WHAT PLACE FOR THE PERSON’S FREE CHOICE?
